Going the Distance: The Orange Room Studies Migration

The Orange Room began 2019 by learning about animals and what they do in the winter, which includes migration, adaptation, and hibernation.  The group took a particular interest in animals that migrate, so we chose to focus on a couple of these animals.  The class was presented with a list of different animals native to our area, and got to vote which four we were going to learn about.  They chose sea turtles, whales, hummingbirds, and Canada geese.  Each child was then placed in a group based off of their preference.  Over the next couple of weeks, we learned about what research is and applied our knowledge as researchers!  We took a walk to the library to gather books, asked and answered questions, and put together our presentations.  When we were finished, we presented our information to the Yellow and Purple preschool rooms.
